It's 2015,
the future is now,
there was trouble in the past
and we worked to fix it,
but here we are,
back again,
same shit different year.
How did we make progress
only to end up right back
to where we started.
People are people,
humans are humans,
we are all a part of the same
one unified species,
but we refuse to acknowledge
that and instead focus
on our differences
as if those things
that make the world go round
are nothing but errors
in some master plan
that may have been conceived
by a deity.

Here's a thought,
shut your mouth
and open your mind.
Embrace the world around you.
Embrace these differences.
Don't be a part of the systematic oppression
of so many peoples
with different skin,
different gender,
different beliefs,
different sexuality.

The blacks are getting killed,
and the whites don't care.
The trans are getting beaten,
and the cis don't care.
The women are getting mistreated,
and the men don't care.
The gays are getting blamed,
and the straights don't care.
This does not work,
you need to shut your mouth
and open your mind
and embrace the world around you.
Take a deep breath and realize
there needs to be change.
And it starts with you.
One person can make
a difference. Stand up for others.
Show them and the world
that they matter.
Do not devolve and degrade,
do not stoop to that level.
You're better than that
and you know it.
Make a difference.
Stand up.
